Okanagan Missions Team is Back

Missions Updates

Please pray for the Haiti team as they prepare for the missions trip to Haiti over Spring Break.

Reaching Out

in Short Term Missions

Abbotsford Vineyard does several short term missions trips per year. Check out our previous missions trips photos and videos.

Haiti: Are you interested in going to Haiti on a short term mission trip? This 10-12 day trip is truly an unforgettable life-changing event for people ages 18 and over and who are in good health. Teams will have an opportunity to experience the Haitian culture, evangelize and share their talents, offer humanitarian aid, work in an orphanage, make new friends, gain a new awareness for missions and possibly change someone’s life forever! For more information or to apply contact Gary Stephens or Ron Peters .

Oliver: Looking for a ministry opportunity close to home? Each year, we send a team to Oliver, BC to minister to the Quebecois fruit pickers. Hundreds of people come from Quebec to work picking fruit for the summer. We will be serving them by providing this army of young people with dinner every night at their tent city, distributing gift bags and what ever else we can think of to show them the love of Jesus! We also volunteer at the Okanagan Gleaners where we cut and prepare vegetables that are made into a soup mix which is distributed to people in need all over the world. This year's trip is July 13-19th. For more information or to apply contact Gary Stephens. 2007 Pictures>

Mexico: Working out of the Door of Faith orphanage in Baja Mexico, this team will work in local neighborhoods to help families who are poor materially and spiritually. The days will be divided between construction of a new home for a family in need, sports evangelism (most likely soccer), grocery hamper giveaway to the poor, prayer, and playing with the kids at the orphanage. For more information contact Gary Stephens or Ron Peters . Jump to the Mexico Missions Page>

Chris De Souza

Chris De Souza is heading to Australia to reconnect with my missions team called Emerge (part of YWAM). "Our team will be putting together an Australia and New Zealand multimedia tour designed to envigorate young people/the young at heart to step into the calling God has placed on their lives. We especially want to inform and point people in the direction of frontier missions to the unreached of the world. " ... and how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?" - Romans 10:15

Among other things, Aaron and Chris will be writing and tailoring music to perform at the tour events, with hopes to compliment this message.

Jay Duncan

Jay Duncan is going to be launching a technical school in Mpigi, Uganda with the DuncanAfrica Society . There, he will train young men and women from impoverished communities in the fine art of guitar-making. Additionally, they will provide instruction in math, english, computer and business skills. "We believe that by empowering young people and providing the necessary resource structures, we can play a significant role in assisting them to become a generation that will change the future of Africa. Together we can create a legacy for generations who will follow in our footsteps." For more information visit their blog or email info@duncanguitars.com

Aaron Rathjen

Aaron Rathjen is Down Under with an international team, touring Australia and New Zealand with a multimedia message calling people to 'Go' into missions. They use video, photos, live music, and teaching to share God's heart for the nations and tell about what He is doing all over the world. Aaron has felt called to missions since he was small, so for him this trip is just the beginning of a life of adventure with Jesus!

Matt Brown

Matt Brown: I am currently causing mischief for the LORD in Restricted access countries working with the underground church. I really feel tailor made for the path that God has been leading me in, though it is incredibly difficult sometimes. I want to thank my church family at the Abby vine for their prayers and for the spiritual heritage and upbringing that this community has placed in my life.

Please please please, if you would pray for me I would really appreciate it. I absolutely love when God just shows up and makes evangelism, faith and perseverance easy just because he is undeniably there with us. Please also pray for the people I am working with. They are so passionate about the LORD and I am absolutely humbled by the chance of working with our persecuted Brother and Sisters in the faith. In Hebrews 11 it says "the world was not worthy of them" and I certainly am not worthy for this opportunity the LORD has opened for me.

Bethany Whitehead

Bethany Whitehad has committed to serving as staff for at least one year with Youth With A Mission, Sunshine Coast, Australia.

"In this time I will be discipling international students completing their Discipleship Training School and helping with the ministries associated with the base. The first school I will be staffing in July, is a soccer DTS. During this school I will be contributing to the new soccer ministry in the local community, leading students, and helping take a team on outreach. I am excited to see students as they grow closer in their relationship with God, and take the steps in making Him known locally and around the world."

Amber Funk has committed to serving as staff for at 20 months with Youth With A Mission, Brisbane, Australia.

"I'm taking a Basic Leadership School. This means that I staff two Discipleship Training Schools, lead an outreach team on each, and have leadership classes. I am staff on the Music Art and Dance DTS and I am responsible for four girls. I mark all their work, mentor them, pray for them and all that good stuff. I'm extremely excited to see the way that God is going to grow each of the students that come through. It's fun to be able to see them start figuring out how they can use their talents for God's glory. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated as this is going to be a very hectic two years!

Feel free to contact me at amber@ywamoz.com. If you would like to be added to my update/prayer list, just send me a quick email.

Adam Nash - On May 26, as a supporting leader I am
going to accompany my team to Ulaanbatar, the capital city in Mongolia. From there I will go onward to a province in the northwest region of the country. There we as a team will embark on a backpacking trek through the mountains to visit with families to connect and reconnect with them and continue to further the relationships begun in last year.

Three main goals of our trip:

Intercession- we want to be a light in a dark place and pray God’s dream over this land.

Discipleship - discipling the Mongolian Christians that will be coming along

Evangelism - sharing the good news
